Helen Wehr

Helen R. Zajacs Wehr, 77, of Zelienople, formerly of Fombell, passed away Monday morning at VNA Inpatient Hospice in Butler.

Born on July 28, 1936, in Zelienople, she was the daughter of the late John and Anna Mary Soltes Zajacs.

She was a member of the St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church in Zelienople.

Helen was a devoted mother who served as a band booster for Riverside High School. For many years, she was very active in the Cancer Support Group at Ellwood City Hospital.

Helen is survived by her five daughters, Mary Jo (Paul) Hughes of Butler, Tina Sloan of Harmony, Ailene (John) Hudack of Hookstown, Arlene (Joe) Mondine of Ellwood City and Joan (Brian) Sinz of Harmony; her son, Charles R. Wehr of Ellwood City; her three sisters, Mary Ann Stickel of Washington, Pa., Marge (Dave) Eberle of Harmony and Betty Crans of Harmony; her two brothers, John (Anna) Zajacs of Evans City and Steve (Maureen) Zajacs of Coraopolis; and her seven grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph E. Wehr, on Oct. 19, 2004, and by her sister, Kathryn Wahl.

Wehr — The family of Helen R. Zajacs Wehr, who passed away Monday, March 10, 2014, will receive friends and relatives at the A. Carl Kinsey-Ronald N. Volz Funeral Home, 114 W. Spring St., Zelienople, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday.A funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the St. Gregory Roman Catholic Church, 2 W.
