PINE TWP, Allegheny County — The abrupt resignation Tuesday of Rebecca Martin, president and CEO of the Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber, may have caught board members by surprise, but officials with the organization vowed Thursday to continue their mission of serving member businesses.

“We are immediately starting the search for her replacement. We will move quickly but prudently to find the right candidate for her position,” said Jim Boltz, chair of the chamber for 2014, in an e-mail statement.

“In the meantime, it will be business as usual. The Pittsburgh North Regional Chamber of Commerce is committed to meeting the needs of our members. With our strong staff and great volunteers, we will continue to provide networking, top notch events, educational and advocacy opportunities for your chamber membership.”

Boltz also wrote the chamber still will host its open house on Thursday, its May 10 golf outing, a June 24 food and wine event and various after hour networking events through June.

Additionally, Boltz announced in the release the chamber administration and board has several immediate goals: increase efforts to strengthen relationships with its members, corporate sponsors and communities; improve its financial position; and step up marketing efforts.

Bruce Goodman, who is treasurer of the chamber, said he supports Martin as she moves forward in her career.

“She chose to resign, and we basically wish her well,” Goodman said Thursday. “The chamber is still committed to providing services to its members.”

Martin had been at the chamber for 14 months. She was hired in February 2013. Her resignation was effective Tuesday.
