Bernard McKruit

Bernard Carl McKruit, 76, of Cabot passed away Sunday at the Good Samaritan Hospice.

Born on July 18, 1937, in Butler, he was the son of Walter and Pauline (Beblo) McKruit.

Bernard was a 1956 graduate of Winfield High School.

His first job was working for Paul Myers Pickle Farm. He then worked for Joe Powers as a plasterer and then for Joe Beblo Contracting. In 1963, he started Bernie's Mobile Home Park.

He was a member of the St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church and was a charter member of the Blazing Blades Scrollsaw Association and the American Beekeepers Association. He loved hunting, fishing, beekeeping and going to camp. He and his friends built their own camp in Mt. Jewett in 1955. Bernard also enjoyed woodworking, reading and making his own wine. He was a man of all trades.

Surviving are his loving wife of 55 years, Joanne (Zrelak) McKruit; his two sons, Carl (Kathleen) McKruit of Butler and David McKruit of Sarver; his daughter, Theresa (Jim) McKruit-Jones of Butler; his five grandchildren, Joshua (Crystal) McKruit, Matthew (Leanne) McKruit, Brandon (Libby Stumpf) McKruit, Christopher McKruit and Aidan Jones; his four great-grandchildren, Elijah, Evyn, Troy and Sophia; and his sisters, Agnes McKruit of Pittsburgh and Catherine Oliverio of Washington, Pa.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Edward, Patrick and Walter McKruit, and his sister, Vida Gaetano.

McKruit — The friends of Bernard Carl McKruit, who passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Fox Funeral Home, 410 W. Main St., Saxonburg.A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Mark Pattock, OFM Cap., officiating.
