Alan E. Reed

Alan E. Reed, 77, of Zelienople passed away Saturday.

Born on April 17, 1936, in Middlebourne, W.Va., he was the son of the late Harold and Ethel (Eddy) Reed.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Alan was a retired mechanic for the Civil Service/National Guard, and a member of AARP and the Harmony Zelienople Methodist Church.

Alan enjoyed playing his guitar.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Janice (Smith) Reed.

Surviving are his son, Brian Reed of Plum, Pa.; his daughter, Lisa Reed of Renfrew; his three grandchildren, Coty, Amanda and Max; his great-grandchild; and his five sisters, Ruth Hardy of Wampum, Pa., Ruby Rowand of Highpoint, N.C., Mary Dunigan of Oakboro, N.C., Nancy Fuller of Highpoint, N.C., and Sandra Ward of Weirton, W.Va.

Reed — Visitation for Alan E. Reed, who passed away Saturday, March 1, 2014, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, Zelienople.Another visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Nixon Funeral Home, 610 Washington St., Newell, W.Va.Burial will follow at Locust Hill Cemetery, Chester, W.Va.Military services will be conducted by the Tri-State Veterans Burial Group.
