WEXFORD — The owners of the Wexford-based bridal and gown shop One Enchanted Evening are moving their business to Zelienople, realizing their dream of having a store in the quaint borough they feel is ideally located near Interstate 79 and Cranberry Township.

Pete and Linda Scolieri opened the store, which is now in Pine Center, in 2002, and it already has had several expansions. The shop sells bridal gowns, bridesmaid’s dresses, prom gowns, homecoming dresses and accessories. The store also has pageant gowns and supplies.

“When Linda envisioned the business, her thought was to be in an old house,” said Pete Scolieri. “Basically, we’re in a storefront now. She liked Zelienople, the small town feel.”

The business will move into what used to be the Roach & Ziegler building on Route 19 in downtown Zelienople. The facility will give the shop double its space, additional dressing rooms, a dedicated pageant department and an area for gown preparation and alterations.

“We anticipate by the end of April, early May, we will be in the new location and open,” Pete Scolieri said. “We’re looking forward to the move; looking forward to being in Zelienople. We think Zelie is a good location.”

The couple got into the bridal business after Linda lost her job as an administrative event planner following the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

“She said, ‘I think this area could use a bridal shop.’ She thought there was a need and she was right,” Pete Scolieri said.

The shop expanded so rapidly that within three years the couple had to move into a larger facility. Then in 2010, he said, it required another move.

Linda Scolieri is excited about coming to Zelienople, which has some building renovations, new businesses and plans to redevelop downtown.

“We see Zelienople as becoming the next big growth area in Pittsburgh’s northern suburbs,” she said.

“You can see that it has already started as new types of businesses are moving into the town and the community’s plans to revitalize the Main Street shopping area with additional parking and beautification efforts.”
