Ex-Pa. lawmaker gets released
WILKES-BARRE — Prosecutors have agreed to a request that an ailing former Pennsylvania senator in a federal prison on corruption charges to be temporarily released for an examination by his own doctors.
Attorneys for 85-year-old Raphael Musto say he has cancer and may have as little as two months to live.
Musto was being evaluated at a North Carolina federal medical facility after a judge in January declared him mentally unfit to stand trial.
His lawyers want Musto to be released so he can be examined by his northeastern Pennsylvania oncologist.
