NEVILLE ISLAND — Three Center Township youths earned gold medals at the annual Shamrock Skate figure skating competition recently at Island Sports Center.

Stefani Hartman, 9, won gold in spotlight and pair skating, silver in freestyle. Christian DiPolo, 10, won gold in pairs as Hartman's partner and also achieved gold in spotlight.

Danielle DiPolo, 14, won gold in freestyle and bronze in spotlight.

All three skaters are coached by Marty Culbertson.

ERIE — Two Butler Cubs amateur boxers advanced in Golden Gloves competition over the weekend in Erie.Dustin Stoner, fighting in the 152-pound sub novice division, improved to 2-0 with a TKO over Nate Smith of Erie 30 seconds into the first round.Lucas Adams improved to 2-0 in the 165-pound open division with a walk over win against Gherele Sherrell of Pittsburgh, who failed to make weight.

WASHINGTON — Tiger Woods is not sure whether his ailing back will allow him to play in the Masters, which is two weeks away.“For Augusta, it's actually still a little too soon, to be honest with you,” Woods said Monday at a news conference to announce that Quicken Loans is the new title sponsor of his golf tournament. “That's kind of the frustrating thing about this.”The Masters is the only major tournament the 38-year-old Woods has never missed.

ORLANDO, Fla. — Commissioner Roger Goodell says the NFL will meet on April 8 with the players union to discuss improving the workplace environment.In the wake of the Miami Dolphins bullying scandal, league representatives have met with some 40 players in the last three months, as well as with the Dolphins and outside organizations, Goodell said Monday.
