Building its Reputation

Dan Parr, owner of P&W Construction, looks at plans at the company office on Main Street in Prospect recently.
Construction company makes post frame structures

PROSPECT — Chances are if you have driven around Butler County, you have passed a building constructed by P&W Construction.

“We build post frame and pole buildings,” said Dan Parr, owner.

“I worked in construction in college,” said Parr, who started P&W in 1978.

Some of its buildings include Ibis Tek in Middlesex Township, Narcisi Winery in Gibsonia, the equestrian facility at Slippery Rock University, airplane hangars and a structure for the Harmony Fire Department.

“We build agricultural buildings, commercial buildings, industrial buildings, wood frame buildings and garages,” Parr said.

The company also has built truck garages, offices, dog kennels and convenience stores. It constructs 40 to 60 buildings a year.

But Parr pointed out, “We're at the mercy of the economy.”

While the slow economy had curtailed some business, the Marcellus Shale natural gas drilling industry has provided a boost.

“Marcellus Shale is helping,” Parr said. “People are getting money from digging and are building storage areas.”

Farmers who have inked well deals are now able to buy new equipment and need a place to store it, he said.

According to the company's website, it can build for people “if you need a place for your hobby, big toys or storage.”

Parr and his team construct post frame buildings that can be designed with flexibility to allow for later renovation.

The buildings can be constructed with different materials depending on the need of their customers along with a variety of siding, including vinyl, stone, brick and steel.“You can use those buildings for anything,” Parr said.
