Dorothy Adler DeBortoli
Dorothy Adler DeBortoli, 88, of Zelienople passed away on Saturday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.
Born on March 23, 1925, in Ellwood City, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Hazel Adler.
She was named and baptized a Catholic as Dorothy Louise Adler at the St. Agatha Catholic Church in Ellwood City.
Dorothy graduated from Lincoln High School in 1944. After graduation, she moved to Pittsburgh and began working for ASAM Decorating, where she was employed for five years. Dorothy met her future husband, Mark A. DeBortoli, in Pittsburgh, although he was an Ellwood City native. They were married on Nov. 24, 1949, and spent many happy years together in Zelienople.
In 1950, Dorothy opened Adler's Paint and Wallpaper in Zelienople, and managed it until her retirement more than 50 years later.
She is survived by her brother, Jerry Adler of Zelienople and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mark A. DeBortoli, who passed away in 1990, and her sister, Joan Slevin.
DeBortoli — A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated for Dorothy Adler DeBortoli, who passed away Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the St. Gregory Catholic Church, 2 W. Beaver St., Zelienople, with Father Lawrence R. Smith as celebrant. Everyone please meet at the church.She will be laid to rest at the Holy Redeemer Cemetery in Ellwood City.The funeral arrangements are entrusted to the BOYLAN FUNERAL HOME, Zelienople.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made in her honor in support of St. Gregory Catholic School, 115 Pine St., Zelienople, PA 16063.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with Dorothy's family at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
