Arnold J. Liska

Arnold J. Liska, 91, of Mars, formerly of Wexford, died Wednesday afternoon at the LAS St. John Specialty Care Center in Mars.

Born in O'Hara Township on Jan. 11, 1923, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bertha Mazak Liska.

He attended Dorseyville Grade School and graduated from Etna High School in 1941. He worked at Curtis Wright Propeller Division in Beaver.

He then joined the U.S. Coast Guard as a reservist and served on the USS COBB and USS General MC Meigs during World War II in the following campaigns: American Area, European-African-Middle Eastern Area and the Asiatic-Pacific Theater.

After discharge, he worked for Allis Chalmers until it closed, and then he worked for Allegheny County.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Choma Liska, and his brother, Joseph Liska.

Surviving are his sister, Amy Mellor of Mars; his three nieces, Patty Mellor, Amy Wonderly and Jane Hanuscin; his two nephews, Wally and Dave Mellor; and great-nieces and nephews.

LISKA — The service and interment for Arnold J. Liska, who died Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, will be private. Burial will be in Allegheny County Memorial Park, McCandless Township.Memorials may be made to the LAS St. John Specialty Care Center, P.O.
