Harriette P. Schaffer

Harriette P. Weiland Schaffer, 72, of Butler, who was born in Oakland Township on Dec. 1, 1941, at her family home, went to her Heavenly home on Tuesday.

She was the wife David C. Schaffer, who passed away July 1, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late Adolph L. and Florence Lowry Weiland.

Harriette graduated from Butler High School in 1960, and also from Butler Beauty Academy.

She was a buyer in the boy's department at Troutman's Department Store, where she met her husband Dave. She worked at Clarence Brown School for many years where she showed her special gift as a loving and compassionate teacher's aide to the children.

If you needed a big smile and happy eyes, she always had them ready for anyone. She was willing and had helping hands for whomever needed help while never looking for praise.

Harriette loved her family beyond all reason. She had bushels of hugs for all. You always found her at her children's and grandchildren's activities. She was a special lady who was recognized for her grace and beauty, including her dancing. She also enjoyed camping, especially at the cabin by the river.

Surviving are her son, David L. (Lori) Schaffer of Ohio; one daughter, Heather (Donald) Pringle of Butler; four grandchildren, Morgan and Jacob Schaffer, and Elan and Landon Pringle; one brother, Adolph L. (Ruth) Weiland; three sisters, Marion J. (James) Domhoff, Louann K. (Richard) Lucas and Darlene B. (Richard) Brown; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

SCHAFFER — Private services for Harriette P. Weiland Schaffer, who died Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2014, were held for her family.Arrangements are by the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler.Memorial donations may be made to Butler Catholic School, 515 E. Locust St., Butler, PA 16001.
