Audrey Gatty

Audrey J. Gatty, a native of Butler, passed away peacefully Wednesday at the Lund Center at Concordia Lutheran Ministries in Cabot. She was 93.

Born in Butler, Jan. 21, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Florence Breth, who lived most of their lives on West Penn Street in Butler.

Mrs. Gatty was unshakable in her belief in God, and strong of mind and spirit. She devoted her life to her family and was intensely proud of her four children.

Mrs. Gatty was preceded in death by her first husband, Col. Charles R. Gatty, Ret., also a Butler native and a veteran of World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War; and her second husband, John Kapusta, late of Finleyville, who served as an aviator radioman first class in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

She is survived by her four children, Robert Charles Gatty of Sykesville, Md., David Lawrence Gatty of Pilot Point, Texas, Elizabeth Ellen Kirkpatrick of Atlanta, Ga., and Pamela Jean Belcher of Greensburg; seven grandchildren, Shelly O'Foran, Michael Gatty, Sean Kirkpatrick, Shaye C. Bryson, David Gatty Jr., Brandon Peters and JR Peters; 11 great-grandchildren, Kelly O'Foran, Carrie O'Foran, Lani O'Foran, Eric Gatty, Jalyn Gatty, Gabriel Bryson, Grace Bryson, Brittany Welcher, Lacey Peters, Brianna Peters and Katey Peters; her brother, Ron Breth of Butler; and two sisters, Doris Knox, formerly of Butler who now lives in Cabot, and Rhea Jean Black Zold of Murrysville.

GATTY — Friends and family of Audrey J. Gatty, who died Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, will be received today from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. Robert H. Wilson of Zion United Methodist Church, Sarver, officiating. Burial will take place in the Rose Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Zion United Methodist Church, 438 Bear Creek Road, Sarver, PA 16055, to the Good Samaritan Hospice, 3500 Brooktree Road, Suite 320, Wexford, PA 15090 or to the donor's favorite charity.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
