Jennings Environmental Education Center, Route 528, Brady Township, will host a free program on how sap taken from a maple tree becomes syrup at 2 p.m. March 23. Registration is not necessary, but attendees should arrive on time to get a seat. The program begins with an indoor presentation followed by a guided, outdoor walk.

Wagman Winterfest, the 21st annual free winter star party sponsored by the Amateur Astronomers Association of Pittsburgh, starts with solar viewing at 4 p.m. Saturday at the Nicholas E.
