BUTLER TWP — A former Walmart employee allegedly stole more than $19,000 in cash from the store at Butler Commons over nearly two years.

Township police on Friday filed a felony charge of theft by unlawful taking against Dana Kowal, 44, of Butler. She allegedly began stealing the money in July 2012.

A formal arraignment for Kowal is set for 1 p.m. March 25 in front of District Judge Kevin O’Donnell.

Kowal was released from the Butler County Prison on her own recognizance.
