Donald C. Sipes Sr.
Donald C. Sipes Sr., 86, of Harmony passed away Sunday.
Born on July 5, 1927, in Curwensville, he was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Clarence Sipes.
Donald was a proud U.S. Navy veteran who served during World War II as a seaman 1st class and was awarded the Navy Occupation Service, the Asia/Philippine Liberation, World War II Victory, American Campaign and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign medals.
After 38 years of dedicated service, he retired from Pittsburgh Plug & Products.
He was a member of the Clearfield American Legion, the Destroyer Escort Sailors Association and was a VFW life member. Donald had a love for Pittsburgh sports, especially for the Steelers. Above all, he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his beloved wife of 66 years, Mima (Cartwright) Sipes; his three sons, Chris Sipes of Harmony, Robert Sipes of Tarboro, N.C., and Donald C. Sipes Jr. of Buffalo, N.Y.; his eight grandchildren, Eric (Tanya), Jessica, Gregory, Devero (Crissy), Joseph (Amanda), Stephanie, Kristi and Jeromy Sipes; and his four great-grandchildren, Brayon and Serenity Tubbs and Isabella and Alton Sipes.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Sipes, and his grandson, David Sipes.
SIPES — The family of Donald C. Sipes Sr., who passed away Sunday, Jan. 12, 2014, will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E. Grandview Ave., Zelienople.A funeral ceremony will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Deacon Gordon Cartwight, officiating.
