Robert J. Hawn

Robert J. Hawn, 80, of Butler passed away Saturday at VNA Inpatient Hospice following a battle with cancer.

Born on May 19, 1933, in Grindstone, Pa., he was the son of the late William Robert and Pearl Irene Reiber Hawn.

A veteran of the U.S. Navy, Robert served during the Korean War.

He was a salesman of industrial lubricants for various manufacturers for more than 40 years. Most recently, he was employed at Life Butler for the past three years. Robert enjoyed camping, was an avid fisherman and an all-around handyman.

He was a member of the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, the Butler Notables and Olde Town Harmony in Grove City.

Robert is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary Louise Hoffman Hawn, who he married on Oct. 13, 1956. He is also survived by his three sons, Bruce Hawn and his wife, Glenna, of Prospect, James Hawn and his wife, Debbie, of Butler and Scott Hawn and his wife, Karen, of Butler; his daughter, Marilyn Moore and her husband, David, of Butler; and his brother, James Hawn and his wife, Ruth, of Homosassa, Fla. He is also survived by his five grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Amanda Londino, Emily Moore, Ashley Hawn and Karlee Hawn, and the family is eagerly awaiting the arrival of his first great-granddaughter, Natalie Marie Londino.

He was preceded in death by his brother and his three sisters.

HAWN — The friends of Robert J. Hawn, who passed away Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014, will be received at the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Saint Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church, 432 Center Ave., Butler.Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Burial Estates.Military Honors will be accorded at the cemetery by VFW Post 249 and Lyndora American Legion Post 778.The family requests memorial donations to VNA, 154 Hindman Road, Butler, PA 16001.The Bereavement Group of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Tuesday to conduct a Scriptural Wake Service.For more information, go to www.martinfh.net.
