Karl “Heinz” Klimpke, 80, of Butler passed away unexpectedly Wednesday at his home.

Born on March 1, 1933, in Gnutz, Germany, he was the son of the late Johannes and Cathrine (Stammerjohann) Klimpke.

Heinz came to the United States in the 1960s and became a U.S. citizen in 1989.

He was a lifetime employee of Volkswagen of America and retired in 1993.

Heinz enjoyed time spent on the golf course, woodworking, and repairing clocks for friends. He saw himself as an ordinary man, but those who knew him found him extraordinary.

He leaves behind his wife of 49 years, Linda (Murphy) Klimpke, who he married in 1965; his two loving daughters, Katrina Turner and her husband, Todd, of Renfrew and Heidi MacLeod and her husband, Scot, of New Cumberland, Pa.; his three sisters, Annelise Hanisch, Erna Sachs and Ilse Zimmermann, all of Germany; his five grandchildren, Abbey, Ethan, Deegan, Dane and Lucy; and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews in Germany and the United States.

Klimpke — In accordance with his wishes, a private memorial for Karl “Heinz” Klimpke, who passed away Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2014, will be for the immediate family.Funeral arrangements were entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, Evans City.Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the Klimpke family at www.boylanfuneralhome.com.
