Wilda Daum

Wilda R. (Laird) Daum, 94, of Butler passed away at 6:39 a.m. Thursday at Concordia at the Orchard.

She was born on Jan. 31, 1919, in Butler, the daughter of the late James R. Laird and the late Dorothy (Eakins) Laird.

She was an active member of North Main Street Church of God, where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Keenagers Sunday School Class. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics and needlework. Wilda was a loving mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her family.

The last four years of her life were at Concordia at the Orchard, where she made many new friends and was grateful for the wonderful care given to her by Dr. Sam, the staff at the Orchard and the Good Samaritan Hospice staff on her journey to everlasting peace.

Surviving are her four sons, James R. (Alyce) Daum of Newnan, Ga., William L. (Darlene) Daum and Harvey Keith “Skip” (Patty) Daum, both of Butler, and T. Scott (Lynn) Daum of Richmond, Va.; her nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harvey J. Daum Jr., who she married Oct. 9, 1937, and who passed away Aug. 16, 1996; her infant daughter, Cynthia Jayne; her son, Roger L. Daum; her grandson, Corey J. Daum, and her two sisters, Jayne E. Murphy and D. Marie Stauffer.

DAUM — Friends of Wilda R. (Laird) Daum, who passed away Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The funeral services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at North Main Street Church Of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, with the Rev. Brandon Lenhart officiating. Burial will take place in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to North Main Street Church of God, 1201 N. Main St. Ext., Butler, PA 16001 or to Butler Meals on Wheels, 218 E. Jefferson St., Butler, PA 16001.Online condolences can be given at www.thompson-miller.com.
