David J. Hiles
David J. Hiles, 44, of East Brady died Monday with his family by his side after a brief courageous battle with cancer.
Born on July 11, 1969, in Butler, he was the son of J. Gary and Kaye F. (Fowler) Hiles.
A 1988 graduate of East Brady High School, David was employed for 18 years as a union carpenter for John Morris & Sons Inc. in Pittsburgh. He specialized in drywall installation. Previously, David worked at the Archway Cookie Co. in Rimersburg.
David was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He was also a member of the Karns City Quarterback Club. Previously, David had coached the Karns City Blue Devils Youth Football.
David enjoyed hunting and the outdoors. He looked forward to his yearly bear hunting trips to Tionesta with his friends. He enjoyed watching the Steelers, the Penguins and all of his stepson Logan’s sporting events.
David’s true passion was weight lifting. He would often be seen in his garage with his buddies after work. He instilled his passion for the sport in many teenagers in the East Brady area.
David enjoyed long walks in Snyder Hollow with his golden retriever, Bo. He will always be remembered for great times with friends on the water, whether it be the Allegheny River or his backyard pool. David was a great husband, father, son, uncle, neighbor and friend. He will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Jerilynn N. Hiles of East Brady, who he married on Aug. 6, 2005; his stepson, Logan M. Moroney of East Brady; his mother, Kaye F. Hiles of Kittanning Hollow, and his two brothers, James C. Hiles of Kittanning Hollow and Michael A. Hiles (Lisa) of Sherret. He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Ron and Linzie Keefer of Clarion; his two nephews; two nieces, and several aunts and uncles.
David was preceded in death by his father, Gary.
HILES — The friends of David J. Hiles, who died Monday, Jan. 6, 2014, will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Buechele Funeral Home, 707 Kellys Way, East Brady.The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul's Community Church with the Rev.
