Violet I. Kern
Violet I. Kern, 77, of Grove City, formerly of Harrisville, passed away at 11:23 a.m. Tuesday at the Grove City Medical Center.
Born at home in Jackson Center on Oct. 6, 1936, she was a daughter of the late Norman and Mary Johns Bestwick.
Mrs. Kern worked for many years as a rest area attendant for the blind association along Interstate 80, retiring in 1994.
On May 22, 1954, she married Arthur F. Kern Jr. in Harrisville, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 25, 2004.
Surviving are her daughter, Diane L. Scott and her husband, James, of Butler; her two sisters, Nellie Forrester of Jackson Center and Florence Beres of Greenville, and her two brothers, Laken Guthrie of Jamestown and Norman Bestwick Jr. of Jackson Center.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvonne C. Kern; her sister, Margaret Bartolone; her five brothers, Harry Guthrie, Daniel Guthrie, Warren Guthrie, Robert Guthrie and Clinton Guthrie, and her grandson, Shawn Scott.
KERN — The family and friends of Violet I. Kern, who passed away Tuesday Dec. 31, 2013, are welcome from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Jamison Funeral Home, 117 N. Main St., Harrisville.The funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Peter J.
