SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University senior shortstop Will Kengor has been named first team Preseason All-America by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Kengor led the PSAC with a .449 batting average — fourth highest in Rock history — last season. He led the PSAC and was second in the nation with eight sacrifice flies.

Kengor was almost among the PSAC leaders with 79 hits, a .502 on base percentage, five triples and 16 doubles.

SRU opens the baseball season Feb. 22 with a noon doubleheader vs. Walsh in Chillicothe, Ohio.

SLIPPERY ROCK — Slippery Rock University punter James McCombie has been named honorable mention All-America by D2Football.com.The All-America honor was the fourth received by McCombie, who led the PSAC and was fifth nationally with a 43.2-yard average. He had 12 punts travel 50 yards or farther and had 13 land inside the opponent's 20-yard line.

PITTSBURGH — Butler graduate and senior Point Park University guard Katresa Savisky has been named Capital One Academic All-District first team for the second consecutive year.Savisky carries a 3.97 grade point average as a psychology major. She is averaging 9.5 points, 5.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game for the Pioneers.

GROVE CITY — Slippery Rock native and Grove City College sophomore Mary McDonald scored 24 points and also had 11 rebounds as the Wolverines rallied for a 75-69 win over Bethany College Saturday afternoon.McDonald, a Portersville Christian School graduate, is averaging 9.2 points and 7.1 rebounds per game for Grove City.
