Robert Cranmer

Robert L. Cranmer Sr., 79, of Butler passed away Sunday at VNA Inpatient Hospice after a brief illness.

He was born in Herman on March 30, 1934, and was the son of the late Ralph and Agnes Schehl Cranmer.

He retired from Pullman Standard when the plant closed. He then worked at Allegheny Axle retiring in 1996. After that, he worked at the Butler Auto Auction for 10 years and was currently employed at Point Security until his illness in October of this year.

He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army.

Robert was a member of Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church.

He was an avid sports fan, especially baseball, football, hunting and fishing.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Marilyn Geibel Cranmer, who he married on Dec. 29, 1956; his three daughters, Denise Kline of Butler, Carol Landgraf and her husband, Carl, of Butler and Janine Montgomery and her husband, Richard, of Portersville; his son, Robert L. Cranmer Jr., and his wife, Wanda, of Hopewell, Pa.; his two brothers, F. William Cranmer and his wife, Ann, of Butler and Ralph “Ronald” Cranmer and his wife, Coralee, of Plum Boro, Pa.; his sister, Ruth Cypher of Butler; and his five granddaughters and one great-grandson.

Cranmer — The friends of Robert L. Cranmer Sr., who passed away Sunday Dec. 29, 2013, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday.A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Friday at the Saint Andrew Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Nicholas Argentieri, pastor, officiating.Burial will take place in Calvary Cemetery.For more information, go to www.martinfh.net
