David Pollio is a new reporter for the Butler Eagle and the Cranberry Eagle. He will work out of the company's office in Cranberry Township.
He will cover events, activities and issues in the southwestern section of Butler County.
Pollio, 29, of Prospect has a communication and public relations degree from Slippery Rock University.
Pollio, who served in the U.S. Navy from 2005 to 2009, is completing his master's degree in journalism and mass communication at Point Park University.
He interned this past summer at the Derrick newspaper in Oil City, Venango County.
He replaces Bob Schultz.
MARYLAND — Leonard J. Haney, formerly of Saxonburg, has been promoted to be the lead flight test instrumentation operations engineer of the JSF F35 Carrier Variant Group at Patuxent River, Md., for Lockheed Martin Aeronautics.He has been with Lockheed Martin for more than 24 years working on F16, F22, C130, C5 and F35 aircraft.He graduated from Butler County Community College in 1983 and from Penn State University in 1986.
PITTSBURGH — Consol Energy said Friday that its fourth-quarter net income more than quadrupled, mostly helped by the sale of five longwall coal mines.For the three months ended Dec. 31, the company earned $738.2 million, or $3.20 per share. That's up sharply from $149.9 million, or 65 cents per share, a year earlier.Consol Energy's income from discontinued operations totaled $591 million. In October the company announced it was selling all five of its longwall coal mines in West Virginia to Ohio-based Murray Energy for $3.5 billion.The current quarter's results also included a $131 million income tax benefit.
