James Wilk

James Joseph Wilk, 86, of Parker passed away at 11:15 p.m. Friday evening at his home following an extended illness.

Born in Pittsburgh on March 31, 1927, he was the son of the late Walter J. and Monica Faber Wilk.

Jim graduated from Peabody High School in Pittsburgh, the former Gimbel's Mercantile School, and completed the management courses with Dale Carnegie.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy from 1944 to 1946. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Seaman 1st Class and earned the American Area Victory Medal.

Mr. Wilk worked in carpet sales and management with various carpet companies including Gimbel's, Ozite and Pennsylvania Floors.

He was a member of Lodge 808 F&AM of Pleasant Hills, Pa.

Surviving are his wife, Nancy Cooper Wilk; his three sons, David Alan, Russell Keith and James Michel Wilk; his two stepchildren, William J. Hildebrand and Mary Jane Nail; his several grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; and his brother, John (Jack) Wilk of Calif.

WILK — The friends of James Joseph Wilk, who passed away Friday Dec. 27, 2013, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Wayne Ave., Parker. The funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday in the funeral home with Pastor Chris Clark of the Chapel on the Hill officiating. Private burial will be at the convenience of the family.Members of the VFW and American Legion of Parker will conduct veteran services at 3:45 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Medi-Home Hospice, 612 N.
