CRANBERRY TWP — A 26-year-old township man announced Friday he will campaign for the state’s 3rd Congressional District, which includes all of Butler County.

Dan LaVallee is the third candidate seeking the Democratic nomination to challenge U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, a Butler Republican who has held the seat since 2011.

LaVallee, a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University, has recently worked on health care reform in Washington D.C., according to the biography on his website.

LaVallee said in his announcement video that he wants to help improve the local economy by connecting universities to local businesses, investing in job training and improving the nation’s spending habits.
