CLINTON TWP — The township supervisors on Tuesday raised various fees for zoning changes, permits and plan reviews.

Among the increases are:

• Amendment request or zoning change from $600 to $800

• Conditional use request, variance request or appeal to zoning board rose from $450 to $600

• Site plan review, from $100 to $150.

Some fees, including the $150 planned residential development review fee, remain the same.

NEW YORK — Starbucks says its quarterly profit rose by 25 percent as it benefited from lower coffee costs and stronger sales around the world.The Seattle-based coffee company says global sales rose 5 percent at established locations.Troy Alstead, the company's chief financial officer, said the slower growth for the final three months of the year was the result of the shift toward online shopping during the holiday shopping season.

LOS ANGELES — Discover Financial Services' net income jumped 11 percent in the last three months of 2013, as users of its namesake credit card and other loan services stepped up borrowing and the company set aside less money to cover losses.It said total loans grew 5 percent in the quarter versus the same period a year earlier. Credit card loans grew 4 percent. Discover card sales volume rose 3 percent during the October-December period.Discover's fourth-quarter net interest income, or money earned from loans after factoring in interest expense, jumped nearly 10 percent to $1.57 billion from $1.43 billion.

Employees at the Marmon/Keystone corporate office in Butler this past holiday season helped two groups. They had a food drive to benefit the Butler Salvation Army, and they collected 65 toys and cash donations for Toys for Tots, sponsored by the U.S. Marine Corps.
