Rodger Lee Fleming

Rodger Lee Fleming, 67, of Butler passed away at 3:36 a.m. Thursday at his home.

He was born on April 27, 1946, in Butler to the late H. Frederick Fleming and Dorothy (Winters) Fleming.

Mr. Fleming was a 1964 graduate of Knoch High School. He went on to earn a bachelor's degree in economics at Slippery Rock State College, graduating in 1969.

He was the owner and operator of Winters & Fleming Inc. and Fleming Transport, retiring in 2006.

Mr. Fleming was a past president of the Pennsylvania Motor Truckers Association. He was a member of the Pittsburgh chapter, past state chairman and was still a board member of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. He was the winner of the 2013 Wallace Pate Award and was an avid hunter and conservationist.

Mr. Fleming is survived by his wife, Sally Fleming, who he married on June 14, 1969; his son, Wesley Fleming and his wife, Dr. Rebecca Hartka, of Ashfield, Mass.; his daughter, Alana Fleming Dunn and her husband, Kevin, of Cleveland, Ohio; his two grandchildren, John “Jack” Rodger Dunn and Aidan Dunn; his brother, Charles Fleming and his wife, Mary Ellen, of Butler; his sister, Mary Simpson of Butler, and several nieces and nephews.

FLEMING — The friends of Rodger Lee Fleming, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 19, 2013, will be received from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler. The funeral services will immediately follow at 3 p.m. with Pastor Mark Tolar of the Woodville First Baptist Church, Woodville, Texas, officiating.Private burial will take place in the Brownsdale Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, 5705 Grand Creek Road, Missoula, MT 59808 or the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute, 5150 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232.Information and a private guest book are available at www.thompson-miller.com.
