HARRISBURG — A seven-year veteran of the Pennsylvania Dog Law Enforcement Office is taking over as its leader.

State Agriculture Secretary George Greig on Tuesday named Kristen Donmoyer to head the organization that is responsible for ensuring minimum standards for dogs and puppies in commercial breeding kennels and dogs in non-commercial kennels.

The Lebanon County resident has previously worked in the office as a kennel compliance specialist and as director of enforcement.

The office also tracks dangerous dogs and handles dog licensing and rabies vaccination. Dog license sales rose 14 percent last year, to 966,000.

State officials say Pennsylvania now has just 59 commercial kennels, down from more than 300.
