Patricia Wagner

Patricia Louise (O'Neil) Wagner, 80, of Butler, born in 1933, died Sunday on her birthday. She was surrounded by her loving family.

She was known as “Patsy” by those who were close to her. She married Elmer Sherwin Wagner of Butler on Jan. 15, 1955, and helped build their home as a stay-at-home mother for many years before becoming the supervisor of the receiving department at J.C. Penney's in the Clearview Mall.

Patsy always said she enjoyed the simple things in life and was particularly fond of going to the movies, roller skating as a young girl, taking walks, being with her family, carrying on friendships with her neighbors, vacationing and going out to eat at restaurants, working on puzzles, and participating in card club, bingo and bowling leagues. Her family will fondly remember her ability to whistle, sing songs, tell stories and provide a listening ear.

She was a member of the St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where she organized community dinners, taught Sunday school, worked with the youth group and was a member of the Altar Ladies.

She is survived by her loving husband, Elmer S. Wagner; her five loving children, Thomas Joseph Wagner of Tillman, S.C., Catherine Marie Hemphill and her husband, Denny, of Butler, Mary Ann Allen and her husband, Terry, of Butler, Joyce Lynne Boos and her husband, Phillip, of Queenstown, Md., and Charles Michael Wagner and his wife, Karen, of Washington, Pa.; her 11 loving grandchildren, Celina Henderson Karnes, Erika Moroney, Angela Boos, Brittnee Hemphill Madigan, Tiffany Allen, Jason Boos, Matthew Hemphill, Rachel Boos, Jacob Boos, Hudson Wagner and Barlow Wagner; her seven loving great-grandchildren, Gavin and Alana Moroney (and one on the way), Harrison Wagner Boos, Mackenzie, Rylee and Sydney Karnes, and Hayden Grace Madigan, and a number of nieces and nephews and extended family that she cared for greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Leo O'Neil and Sophie (Heitzer) O'Neil; her young son, James Michael Wagner; her brother, Leo O'Neil; her sister, Margaret “Peggy” Cotril, and her loving mother-in-law, Grace Dorenkamp.

Her life was one of joy, compassion, laughter and love. She will forever live in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
