Donald P. 'Don' Fleming
Donald P. “Don” Fleming, 90, of Cabot, formerly of West Sunbury, passed away at 5:40 a.m. Thursday at the Concordia Lutheran Ministries.
He was born on Nov. 30, 1923, in West Sunbury to the late Ross Ralph Fleming and Esther (Wilson) Fleming.
Don was a successful farmer for more than 58 years, and he also worked in the maintenance department at Pullman Standard.
He was a member of the Community Alliance Church and attended the Westminster Presbyterian Church in America. Don was passionate about his family, particularly his grandchildren, in whom he took special delight. Don was a fully devoted follower of Christ who loved teaching the Bible in Sunday School and in home Bible studies. He had committed to memory hundreds of verses of Scripture. He was an avid reader, and in recent years enjoyed gardening.
Don is survived by his wife, Marian (Miller) Fleming, who he married on Dec. 30, 2006; his two daughters, Donna Dail and her husband, Roy, of Greensburg, Pa., and Diane D. Fleming of Butler; his three grandchildren, Kent Dail of Pittsburgh, Kevin Dail and his wife, Jennifer, of Greensburg and Krystal Dail of Greensburg; his sister, Jane Bortmas of West Sunbury; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Regina Margaret “Jean” Fleming, who he married on Sept. 29, 1951, and who passed away on Oct. 12, 2002; his son, Porter Fleming; his two sisters; and his four brothers.
FLEMING — The friends of Donald P. “Don” Fleming, who passed away Thursday, Dec. 12, 2013, will be received from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, 124 E. North St., Butler.The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Roy Dail of the Greensburg Alliance Church, son-in-law of the deceased, officiating.
