Chevrolet sweeps top awards at auto show
Chevrolet Corvette Stingray chief engineer Tadge Juechter holds up the North American Car of the Year award Monday at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
DETROIT — The Chevrolet Corvette Stingray captured the North American Car of the Year award Monday at the North American International Auto Show here while the Chevrolet Silverado won Truck of the Year, giving General Motors a clean sweep of the prestigious awards.
“To take both the car and truck awards means a lot to the people who worked on it internally,” said Mark Reuss, president of North America for GM and soon to become head of global product development.
“Also I think, practically, it helps to put us on the consideration map from buyers who might not otherwise consider our cars.”
