IN BRIEF

BUTLER TWP — Beginning next season, the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) will abandon its long-established awards program. Only once-in-a-lifetime “honor” scores such as a 300-game, 800 or 900-series will be issued. The Butler County Bowling Association plans to develop its own award/recognition program to replace the abandoned USBC program.

BCBA members are requested to take a 10-question survey at www.surveymonkey.com/s/TG8HN97 for input in the design of this local program.

WAYNESBURG — Mars graduate and Waynesburg University senior women's basketball player Elaine Hasek has been named the university's Female Athlete of the Week. Hasek scored 18 points, grabbed six rebounds and added three assists in a win at Grove City. She added 11 points in a 64-42 win over Geneva.
