Beryl W. Mealey
Beryl W. Mealey, 82, of Bruin passed away Nov. 8.
He was born May 2, 1931, in Hornell, N.Y., the son of Grant and Gladys (Pressure) Mealey.
Beryl moved to Mt. Jewett, Pa., as a child and lived there until age 13. He then moved to Tylersburg, Pa. He attended North Clarion High School.
He honorably served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, working with the 79th Combat Engineer as a heavy equipment operator.
Beryl moved to Bruin in 1962, where he spent the rest of his life.
Beryl was employed as a truck driver for 28 years with the R&H Corp., worked as a subcontractor for 11 years at Owens Illinois Glass in Clarion and worked in the boiler house at Witco for 9½ years. His last place of employment was with Bruin Borough and he was there until his retirement.
Hardworking is how Beryl will be remembered by his family and friends. He loved being outdoors working on projects, with mowing the grass and remodeling his house being two of his favorite activities.
He is survived by his sons, Randall Mealey and his wife, Sherri, of Grove City, Richard Mealey and his wife, Cindy, of Leeper, Dale Mealey, of Utica, N.Y., and Greg Mealey and his wife, Dacey, of Fenelton; his daughter, Pamela Rippee and her husband, Dean, of Saxonburg; and 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Beryl was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife, Marilyn Ruth (Hargenrader) Mealey, who he married on April 29, 1958, and who died on April 13, 2013; and his great-granddaughter.
