Michael K. 'Mike' Hovis
Michael K. “Mike” Hovis, 53, of Meansville, Ga., formerly of Eau Claire, passed away Wednesday in a Georgia hospital following a series of recent strokes.
Born in Butler on Feb. 13, 1960, he was the son of the late Calmont D. and Earlene Davis Hovis.
He was baptized a United Methodist.
Mike was a graduate of Moniteau High School.
In Pennsylvania, he was employed as a weigh master by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. In Georgia, he had been employed as a fork lift operator.
Surviving are his wife, LaFrienda Hovis; his daughter, Nicole Hovis (Richard), and his grandson, William J. Smith IV, all of Georgia. Locally he is survived by his sister, Michele (Terry) Sullivan of Hilliards; his two brothers, Greg (Pam) Hovis of Butler and Robert (Krista) Hovis of Clarion, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
HOVIS — The visitation, funeral services and cremation for Michael K. “Mike” Hovis, who passed away Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, were conducted Sunday, Dec. 8, in Georgia. A memorial service will be in Eau Claire in early January, following the holiday season.
