Doubling Up Center opens exhibit featuring 2 artists
Exhibits of artwork by Kristy Dubinsky and Quinn Hulings will be the next feature at The Art Center.
The opening reception will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.
For the reception, Nic Landon and Sean Garee will play a mix of hot jazz and Celtic music featuring violin, guitar and tenor guitar.
Garee is a classically trained violinist who has played in various groups throughout the region. He is a violin instructor.
Landon is a multi-instrumentalist focusing in early jazz, ragtime and blues. He teaches banjo, guitar, ukulele and lap steel guitar.
Dubinsky has been teaching high school art at Elizabeth Forward for nine years. Her artwork includes pastels, pencil drawings, paintings, ceramics, prints and photography. Her work is greatly influenced by her surroundings, life and experiences.
Hulings was born and raised in Butler County and graduated from Slippery Rock High School and Butler County Vocational-Technical School.
After a time of traveling and working, he enrolled at Slippery Rock University where he earned a bachelor of fine arts in ceramics in 2005 and completed a six month study abroad program in Poznan, Poland.
Following graduation, he moved to upstate New York for a few years before going to Kent State University where he received a master’s of fine arts in ceramics in 2012.
He lives in Slippery Rock and plans to build a studio for ceramic and metal work.
The two-person exhibit runs through Jan. 31.
Gallery hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays and noon to 4 p.m. Saturdays.

Butler County School Students’ Art Exhibits: kindergarten through grade 6 March 7 to 14, and grades 7 to 12 March 21 to 28.
The opening nights will be March 7 and March 21, respectively, from 6 to 8 p.m.
