ZELIENOPLE — The Zelienople Public Library, 227 S. High St., is offering a new biweekly story time for infants beginning today.

Wee Ones Group is for children ages birth to 23 months and their caregivers. This 20-minute story time will feature songs and rhymes and time for adults to read to their little ones.

Chefs will showcase their best chili in the seventh Chili Cook-Off from 5 to 7 p.m. Jan. 25 at Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church, 201 E. Jefferson St.Butler Memorial Hospital, D'Anthony's, Eat 'n Park, Fairground Market, the Monroe Hotel and Elements Cafe will be chili vendors and competitors at the event.Entertainment during the cook-off includes piano music by Becky Veith from 5 to 6 p.m. Music by Laurel will perform acoustic guitar from 6 to 7 p.m.The fundraiser also includes a bake sale and basket auction.The event benefits Saint Andrews United Presbyterian Church outreach programs and Operation Spay Neuter.

SLIPPERY ROCK — The mission team at St. Peter Parish Center and Catholic Campus Ministry, 342 Normal Ave., Slippery Rock, will sponsor the January Jam and Chili Cookoff from 6 to 9 p.m. Jan. 25.Entertainment will feature the Muddy Creek Band.Event visitors will sample and help judge chili. Other food will be available including a dessert bar, hot dogs, nachos, beer, wine and hot chocolate.Also, a book sale, silent auction and handmade scarves sale will be at 5 p.m. in the Fireplace Lounge.Proceeds will help children at the Kingston Mustard Seed Community.
