The Butler County commissioners this morning approved the final design of an $11.5 million office building to be constructed next to the government center.

The commissioners also authorized the preparation of construction documents to seek potential builders.

Commissioner Jim Eckstein, who favors leasing space in existing buildings, opposed both steps.

Eckstein said he liked the design of the four-level structure, but wouldn’t support the project.
