Nora Kathryn Bickel went to her heavenly home at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday. She lived in Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., at the home of her daughter, Shirley Presley.

Nora was born on Oct. 25, 1938, to Charles DeWitt Wimer and Sylvia Irene Campbell Wimer.

She married Clifford Eugene Bickel on Aug. 25, 1956, and made her home at William Flinn Highway, Slippery Rock. He passed away Sept. 4, 2009.

Nora was a 1956 graduate of Slippery Rock High School and a 1970 graduate of Slippery Rock University with a master's degree in elementary education.

She taught one year for the Moniteau School District and 25 years for Butler School District, where she taught special reading and second grade at Center Township Elementary. She was a member of the Keystone State Reading Association, serving on the state executive board, and was lead teacher of her district. She received a literacy award from Butler Reading Association. Upon retirement, she worked for Slippery Rock Greenhouse.

She was a member and past master of Slippery Rock Grange, PA Butler County Pomona, and the PA State and National Granges. She was a member of the Harrisville Methodist Church and the Harrisville Fire Department Auxiliary. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling, sewing, gardening and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Nora is survived by two daughters, Diana S. Allaman and her husband, Wayne, of Butler and Shirley E. Presley and her husband, Donnie, of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla.; a son, Steven P. Bickel and his wife, Carol, of Slippery Rock; her brother, Charles R. Wimer and his wife, Nancy of West Liberty; her four grandchildren, Adam J. Whitfield and his wife, Casey, William C. Whitfield and his wife, Alena, Steven A. Allaman and Christopher W. Allaman and his wife, Chelsea; her step-granddaughter, Wendy Hubbard and her husband, Michael; her three great-grandchildren, Kelci, Kayden and Kaitlyn Whitfield; her aunt Jean of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and spouse, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ada I. Wimer; a brother, Ralph C. Wimer; and a nephew, Clifford Wimer.

BICKEL — The family of Nora Kathryn Bickel, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2013, will receive friends at the Smith Funeral Home, 421 New Castle St., Slippery Rock, from 3 to 7 p.m. Tuesday.The funeral services will be at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Willard Morse, retired Methodist Pastor, presiding. Interment will be in Slippery Rock Cemetery.Memorial contributions may be given to the Harrisville United Methodist Church, 301 S.
