Mary Gayle (McElroy) Cook
Mary Gayle (McElroy) Cook, 94, of Tampa, Fla., Omaha, Neb., and Carlisle, Pa., died Saturday in the Fairway Oaks Center, Tampa, Fla.
Born on Nov. 7, 1919, in Hopedale, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late George and Hattie Mildred (Scott) McElroy.
She was the widow of Louis A. Cook, who died Dec. 31, 2005. They were married on Jan. 29, 1945, in Alliance, Ohio. They spent the early years of the marriage in Butler.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Mechanicsburg.
She was preceded in death by her five siblings, Donald McElroy, Robert McElroy, Louella McElroy Gillesspie, James Merle McElroy and Howard McElroy.
Surviving are her two daughters, Linda (Gary) Shuey of Carlisle, Pa., and Coleen (John) Klecic of Tampa, Fla.; her three grandsons, Evan (Ingrid) Shuey of Duncannon, Pa., Christopher (Christy) Klecic of Omaha, Neb., and Kerry Klecic of Tampa, Fla.; her great-grandson, Kyle John Klecic of Omaha, Neb., and her sister, Ruth McElroy Pears of Columbus, Ohio.
COOK — The visitation for Mary Gayle (McElroy) Cook, who died Saturday, Nov. 23, 2013, will be at the Ronan Funeral Home, 255 York Road, Carlisle, Pa., from 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday. The funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Susquehanna Memorial Gardens, York, Pa.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to SANCS (Sino American Nonprofit Cooperative Services), an orphanage in Henan Province, People's Republic of China.
