Douglas Charles Vollrath, 62, of Fombell passed away Monday at UPMC Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh.

Born on Sept. 22, 1951, in Ellwood City, he was the son of Robert “Popeye” Vollrath and his wife, De, of Zelienople.

Doug was a 1969 graduate of Seneca Valley High School, where he was an accomplished diver on the swim team. He was a proud 1968 “Survivor of Woodstock,” and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.

In addition to his father and stepmother, he leaves behind to cherish his memory, his daughter, August Schweitzer and her husband, Matthew, of Aliquippa; his longtime best friend, Sue Leasher of Zelienople; his stepbrother, Mark Vollrath of Zelienople, and his stepsister, Melissa Richards and her husband, Keith, of Fombell.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Helen I. (Schaudt) Carothers, and his brother, Thomas Vollrath.

Vollrath — A memorial service for Douglas Charles Vollrath, who passed away Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, will be held in Doug's honor at a date and time to be announced.Funeral Arrangements have been entrusted to the Boylan Funeral Home, 324 E.
