William Parkes

William M. Parkes, 62, of Butler died Sunday at his home.

Born on July 16, 1951, in Butler, he was a son of William R. Parkes and the late Bernice M. (Murphy) Parkes.

He graduated from Butler High School and had worked for Butler Petroleum for 25 years.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman, had enjoyed sports, playing pool, poker and cars.

Surviving are his daughter, Abbey M. Parkes of Butler; his grandson, Jackson Walowen; his father, William Parkes of Butler; his two sisters, Gayle (Thomas) Riemer of Kentucky and Jo Ellen (William) Neuman of California, and his four nieces, his nephew and numerous cousins.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his son, Adam Parkes.

PARKES — The friends of William M. Parkes, who died Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, will be received at the Geibel Funeral Home, 201 E. Cunningham St., Butler, from 7 to 9 p.m. today. The services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Butler.Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.Information also is available at www.geibelfuneralhome.com.
