Joseph F. Thinnes
Joseph F. Thinnes, 88, of Penn Township passed away Sunday.
Born on Feb. 28, 1925, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph and Marie (Denk) Thinnes.
He was the beloved husband of the late Mary A. (Walter) Thinnes. He also was preceded in death by his three sisters.
He was the loving father of William (Virginia) Thinnes of Penn Township, Janet (David) Morgain of Penn Township and James (Carol) Thinnes of North Carolina; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
A World War II Merchant Marine veteran, Joseph worked at MSA for more than 36 years, was an active member of the Penn Township Veteran's Association and was a longtime member of the Knights of Columbus Council 10175.
THINNES — The family of Joseph F. Thinnes, who passed away Sunday, Nov. 17, 2013, will welcome friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Schellhaas Funeral Home, 5864 Heckert Road, Bakerstown. A Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Holy Sepulcher Church, Glade Mills. Interment will follow in Butler County Memorial Park.In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the Holy Sepulcher Church Building Fund, 1304 E.
