Daniel Robert Hilliard, 90, formerly of Butler, passed away early Friday morning in the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Born Feb. 19, 1923, in Isle, Franklin Township, he was the son of the late Albert and Nettie Rieger Hilliard.

Dan was retired from the company he owned and operated, the Hilliard Mining Company. He enjoyed owning various real estate properties in Butler County.

He is survived by his children, Susan E. Hilliard of Butler, Robert K. Hilliard of Butler and Ronald L. Hilliard of Chicora; seven grandchildren, Michael (Lori) Hilliard, Luke Hilliard, Sara (Bryan) Griest, Megan (Chance) Rummel, James (Amanda) Mackalica Jr., Rebecca Hilliard and Daniel Hilliard; eight great grandchildren, Jacob and Elizabeth Hilliard, Paige and Griffin Griest, Ecklund, Corrissa, and Rieger Rummel and Morgan Jade Mackalica; two sisters, Helen Schubert of West Sunbury and Martha Huff of Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Alberta M. Hilliard, who passed away Aug. 22, 2010.

HILLIARD — Visitation for Daniel Robert Hilliard, who died Friday, Nov. 15, 2013, will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Edward L.
