William John 'J' Smith III

William Smith

William John “J” Smith III, 33, of Marshfield, Wis., formerly of Butler, passed away Tuesday.

Born on June 4, 1980, in Butler, he was the son of William and Debbe (Simpson) Smith Jr.

A devout Catholic, Will was dedicated to his family and was a devoted son, grandson, father and brother. No matter the distance, he always maintained contact with those closest to him. He faithfully attended the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield, where he worked on a large farm, pursuing his dream of raising his own herd of cattle.

A 1998 graduate of Moniteau High School, Will holds the cross-country record and won the District 9 Championship Cross Country meet. He continued his education at Thiel University in business accounting.

He leaves behind his parents, William and Debbe Smith Jr. of Chicora; his grandparents, William and Nancy Smith Sr. of North Washington; his younger brother, Aaron (Hollis) Smith of Chicora; his sister, Krista Winslow and her husband, Steven Winslow, of Miami, Fla.; his son, William Smith IV of Georgia; his companion, Michelle Kaiser of Marshfield, Wis.; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Will was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Homer and Betty Simpson; his uncle, Steven Simpson; and his cousins, Christian Anderson and Shirley Smith.

SMITH — The friends of William John “J” Smith III, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday (awaiting confirmation of flight) at the H. Jack Buzard Funeral Home, 201 S. Washington St., Eau Claire. The funeral services will be at 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor Paul Hoover, family clergyman, officiating.
