William L. Voegler

William L. Voegler, 71, of Butler passed away Tuesday at Butler Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 16, 1941, in Pittsburgh, the son of the late William A.J. Voegler and Elizabeth (Berger) Voegler.

Bill was a dedicated firefighter of 44 years for the Unionville Volunteer Fire Department, where he previously served as chief and in many other capacities. He poured his heart and soul into firefighting, having begun in his teens with the Mars Volunteer Fire Department. He was a Pennsylvania Certified Fire Instructor.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force.

He was a member of the Unionville Presbyterian Church and the Butler County Fire Chief's Association. Bill will be dearly missed by his family and his dog, Max.

Surviving are his wife of 44 years, Helen (Bortmas) Voegler; his daughter, Linda (Evan) Granite of Wexford; his granddaughters, Ana and Marissa Granite of Wexford; his sister, Dorothy (James) Pink of Rochester, N.Y.; his sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Bortmas) Wagner of Butler, and his nephews, Richard Pink of Rochester, N.Y., Carl Wagner of Butler, Howard Wagner of Camp Pendleton, Calif., and Michael Wagner of Saxonburg.

VOEGLER — The friends of William L. Voegler, who passed away Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, will be received at the Young Funeral Home, 127 W. Jefferson St., Butler, from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.The services will be at the Unionville Presbyterian Church, 1114 Sunset Drive, Butler, at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, with the Rev.
