Werner K. Regewitz

Werner K. Regewitz, 76, of Butler passed away Monday at his home.

Born in New York City on July 13, 1937, he was the son of the late Kurt and Katharine Schnaberger Regewitz.

A summa cum laude graduate in accounting from St. Francis College in Brooklyn, N.Y., he was a retired money manager for the Federal Home Loan Bank of New York.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a member of the St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church in Butler, the Knights of Columbus, the Legion of Mary, the Bereavement Committee of St. Michael's, the Vocations Committee of St. Michael's and the Third Order of St. Francis.

Werner also was a eucharistic minister at the Sunnyview Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, a VNA Hospice volunteer, and an altar server for funerals at St. Michael's.

He is survived by his wife, Katharine Klein Regewitz, to whom he was married for 39 years; his three sons, Timothy W. Regewitz of New Jersey, Daniel P. Regewitz of Butler and Kenneth G. Regewitz of Butler; and his sister, Margaret Gruenfelder and her husband, James, of New Hampshire.

Regewitz — The friends of Werner K. Regewitz, who passed away Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, will be received in the Martin Funeral Home, Inc., 429 Center Ave., Butler, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Michael the Archangel Roman Catholic Church. Burial will take place in St. Michael's Cemetery.The bereavement group of the St. Michael the Archangel Parish will meet at the funeral home at 3 p.m. Wednesday to conduct a scriptural wake service.The members of the Knights of Columbus will meet at the funeral home at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday to recite the rosary.For more information, go to www.martinfh.net.
