ZELIENOPLE — Roach & Ziegler, a 67-year-old business, will move across the street into a new brick building in February.

The move will be from 201 S. Main St. to 200 S. Main St. in the building recently built by Jim Ayers on the former site of the AAA Travel Agency building that burned down in 2008.

It will lease the front of the building, while the rear has a recently opened coffee shop.

Roach & Ziegler was established by Bob Ziegler and Ron Roach in 1946, and now is owned and operated by Brad and Donna Ziegler.

With the move, the business will concentrate on kitchen and bathroom design and installation, hardwood floor, carpeting, laminate flooring and ceramic tile. Its work focuses on small-to-large bathroom projects and makeovers. It also handles all types of flooring.

“We’re busier than we’ve ever been. It’s been crazy,” said Donna Ziegler of the business’ status.

The company had previously sold furniture, but is phasing that out and liquidating its inventory.

Brad Ziegler said the furniture sales were 10 percent of its business, but took up 90 percent of its time.

The business employs four at the store and has about 10 installers who do the work in homes and businesses.

Because the core part of their business is design and installation of kitchen and bathrooms, the Zieglers don’t need the large floor space anymore, Ziegler said.

Also, the business environment for home interiors has changed with the Internet and the way business is done today, he said.

“I can better serve my customers focusing on the home remodeling market and offer exceptionally competitive pricing and service due to lower overhead,” Ziegler said.

The Zieglers have sold their current building, which will become home to a new bridal/dress shop.

Ziegler said that adding this new business should have a positive effect on the Main Street business district.

“We’ve been here on Main Street for many years. Zelienople is a vibrant community,” said Ziegler. “There are a lot of good changes planned that will be good for the community.”
