PITTSBURGH — State police say they shot and killed a man who abducted an 8-month-old girl and held a knife to her throat after leading police on a car chase.

Authorities did not release the dead suspect's name but say he was the man identified in an Amber Alert issued earlier. The Amber Alert identified the girl's abductor as 21-year-old Jared Brown-Garnham.

State police issued an alert for the child at 1:20 a.m. Sunday after she was taken from a convenience store in Brentwood. Police later spotted the suspect's car, leading to a chase that ended with the man ramming security gates at Pittsburgh International Airport.

State police say the suspect put a knife to the child's throat and threatened to kill her. A trooper shot and killed the suspect.

JOHNSTOWN — A man has died in what appears to be a hunting accident.Authorities say 42-year-old Timothy Bruce was fatally shot on Saturday afternoon in Adams Township, Cambria County.Police say Bruce, who lived in Ashville, had been part of a deer hunting party.Township police chief Kirk Moss said that the death seems to be a “tragic mishap.”

PHILADELPHIA — A motorist allegedly driving with a suspended license is facing charges after police say he fatally struck a man in a Santa suit on a Philadelphia highway.According to state troopers, 27-year-old Augustine Bangura also failed field sobriety tests after the accident Saturday night on Interstate 95.Bangura is charged with vehicular homicide and other counts in the death of 24-year-old Adam Herr of Lebanon, Pa. It's not clear if Bangura has a lawyer.

AMBRIDGE — Police say three people were shot in an altercation outside a Pittsburgh-area bar.Ambridge Police Chief James Mann said two men and a woman were shot outside the Colonial Grill shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday.He says one man was flown to the hospital in serious condition with a chest wound. Another man remained hospitalized with a gunshot wound, while the woman was treated and released.Mann says several women got into an altercation inside the bar. He says the argument spilled into the street, and a man began shooting a .40-caliber pistol. He says 18 shell casings were recovered.
