Rock splits at UPJ
The Slippery Rock University men’s basketball team was mired in a 29-all tie with host Pitt-Johnstown Saturday before The Rock outscored the Mountain Cats by 10 points over the final 20 minutes to grab a 66-56 PSAC-West victory.
SRU senior forward Tabari Perry led the way with a double-double of 19 points and 13 rebounds.
Sa’Quan Davis added 12 points and five assists and Kelvin Dixon 11 points and five boards to the winning effort.
Butler graduate and UPJ sophomore point guard Nate Snodgrass played 24 minutes, but did not score for the Mountain Cats.
SRU improved to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in division play.
Women’s Basketball
Despite a career-high 30 points, nine rebounds and seven steals from junior D’Asia Chambers, SRU dropped a 90-86 double-overtime decision to Pitt-Johnstown.
Jazmyne Frost scored 25 points, Erica Aiello and Aidan Geise both tallied 11 for The Rock (1-7, 0-4).
