Barbara Jean Galbreath Bailey

Barbara Jean Galbreath Bailey, 89, of Butler passed away Monday at her home.

She was born on Aug. 25, 1924 in Peoria, Ill., the daughter of the late Robert A. and Charlotte Hilts Galbreath.

She was the widow of Quintard Jones Bailey.

She graduated from Buchtel High School in Akron, Ohio, and Hiram College in Hiram, Ohio.

During college, she worked as a riveter in an aircraft factory while World War II raged. Then before marriage, Barbara worked as a business office supervisor for the Bell Telephone Co. in Washington, Pa., where she met her future husband on a blind date.

She is survived by her loving children, Heather Wallace (Mark) of Penn Hills, Bruce Bailey (Lillian) of Ellwood City, Brian Bailey (Lynda) of Portersville, Benjamin Bailey (Ramiz) of Volant and Holly Meckler (Dan) of Boiling Springs, Pa.; her grandchildren, Jordan Ferguson (Wayne) of Smithville, Ga., Jada Wallace of Penn Hills, Pa., Chelsey Meckler and Kaitlin Meckler of Pittsburgh, Erin Meckler of Boiling Springs, Shelby Book (Matt) of Volant and Lindsay Bailey of Ellwood City; her five great-grandchildren, Cale and Hayden Ferguson, and Matt, BeccaLynn and Shane Book. She is also survived by her brother, Bruce Galbreath (Ingrid) of Westlake, Ohio, and her sister-in-law, Lenora Galbreath of Walnut Creek, Calif.

She was the aunt of M. Louise (Weezie) Bailey of Hurst, Texas, Leon (Buzzie) Bailey (Sue) of Aurora, Colo., Carolyn Manies (Frank) Washington, D.C., Robert Galbreath (Deborah) of Saline, Mich., Charles Galbreath of Pleasanton, Calif., Ann Cortes (Steve) of Orinda, Calif., and Stuart Galbreath (Rebecca) of Charlotte, N.C.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert V. Galbreath.

Bailey — The burial for Barbara Jean Galbreath Bailey, who passed away Monday, Nov. 4, 2013, will be private.Funeral arrangements are entrusted to the YOUNG FUNERAL HOME, Butler.In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to her beloved church, The First Church of Christ, Scientist, 120 W.
